UPPER EAST SIDE

An enchanting neighborhood just outside of Central Park.

Welcome to Upper East Side

The Upper East Side is one of the oldest and most affluent districts in New York City, boasting gorgeous houses and greenery that provide a peaceful pause from the city's hustle and bustle. The boundaries of the quaint community are from 96th Street to the East River and 59th Street, and Central Park on Fifth Avenue. Before its opulent reputation, it was nothing more than farmland. Many wealthy families lived near Battery Park until the mid-1800s, when it was socially acceptable for them to move uptown and purchase land for single-family homes.

Today, locals can find lavish, French renaissance-style buildings with intricate designs and motifs throughout the area. The Upper East Side is home to smaller neighborhoods such as Lenox Hill, Carnegie Hill, and Yorkville, where students, young families, professionals, and individuals with old money populate. Upper East Side’s Fifth Avenue is a mecca for designer boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants.

Parks, restaurants, boutiques, art galleries, museums, and entertainment hotspots line the enclave’s pristine streets. The architecture in the Upper East Side gives a sense of luxury and grandeur that's hard to find elsewhere in Manhattan.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Elio's is a neighborhood gem boasting an extensive menu of classic home-style Italian cuisine and a great ambiance. For an intimate setting, have high tea at Cafe Carlyle within the acclaimed Carlyle Hotel, a top-tier hotel known for its cabaret atmosphere and live performances.

If fine French dining is more your style, you should try Daniel, an upscale eatery best known for its locally sourced ingredients. The menus change seasonally, highlighting the best game and seafood of the season. For an even more sophisticated evening out, Cafe Sabarsky is famous for its chic ambiance inspired by Viennese cafes and its authentic Austrian desserts and coffee.

Those who reside on the Upper East Side must dine at JG Melon, an old-fashion bar and grill well-loved for its chili bowls, juicy burgers, and crispy cottage French fries. Grab a glass of wine at Kaia Wine Bar and pair it with a high-quality entree from its vast menu.

New York City wouldn't be the world's fashion capital without Fifth Avenue Shopping. Fifth Avenue features luxury retail shops, international stores, and Apple's flagship store.
